Autumn cycling in Mallorca

Some photos taken on the recent cycling trip to the beautiful island of Mallorca, with its quiet friendly roads, pretty villages, good cafe stops, stunning coastline and challenging hills. Thanks to Peter Impey again for the impeccable organisation. Plans are afoot for a similar trip next year.

Glen Affric - August 25th - 28th 2017

The youth hostel near the head of Glen Affric is the most remote hostel in the UK. The shortest walk in to the hostel is roughly six miles using a boggy path from the inn at Cluanie. The hostel can also be approached from the road head 10 miles west of the village of Cannich along a reasonable path of about eight miles, which is negotiable by a land rover or by skilled riders on mountain bikes (less skilled riders will have to revert to long sections of pushing).

Ingleborough and Wards Stone - AOG 5th/6th August 2017

Some pictures from the walks over the AOG weekend. Saturday 5th was a walk up Ingleborough and on the Sunday we visited the remote top of Wards Stone in the Forest of Bowland, not far from the university.

The Isle of Mull - 26th to 29th May 2017

The idea for a meet on the Isle of Mull came from Transpennine member Ian who, with his partner Roger moved from West Yorkshire to the village of Dervaig on Mull about two years ago. With the date over the late May English bank fixed and the meet coordinated through the Transpennine, Adventure Out and Scottish groups, Ian booked the small bunkhouse in Dervaig, which is part of the village hall.

Mull is usually reached by Ferry from Oban, which has reasonable rail links to the south; most of us arrived on the Friday afternoon in the middle of the heatwave that the UK enjoyed (or endured) towards the end of May....
