Autumn Walking and Cycling week in Mallorca

Again we returned to the island of Mallorca for the Autumn walking and cycling week. Even being late October summer weather lingers longer there, nicely warm and sunny. While the walkers and cyclists are back on the island there are still plenty of beach holidaymakers, keeping the resorts busy and everything is open. It is certainly an added bonus that we relax after a ride or a walk with lazing on the beach or a swim in the sea.

We were staying at the Hotel Helios in Can Pastilla. The hotel makes itself welcome to both walkers and cyclists, including secure bike stores....

Autumn cycling in Mallorca

Some photos taken on the recent cycling trip to the beautiful island of Mallorca, with its quiet friendly roads, pretty villages, good cafe stops, stunning coastline and challenging hills. Thanks to Peter Impey again for the impeccable organisation. Plans are afoot for a similar trip next year.

Autumn Walking and Cycling Week in Mallorca, 8th to 16th October

This was the 18th year for the Mallorca cycling week and the first to be held in the autumn. This had freed up the Spring and we went to Italy, to Riccione on the Adriatic coast, near Rimini for a joint walking and cycling week. For Mallorca this year we had also managed to tempt a number of walking members as well, please see their own report below.

It may have been October but Mallorca was hot. We had some totally sunny days but with cloud on others, plus a little rain, most of which was overnight. There was always a background warmth, so the warm clothes were never used....

Cycling Training Camp, Mallorca - 29th March to 6th April 2014

34 cycling members came to Training Camp this year, including members from across the UK and from Switzerland. The weather in Mallorca was a bit mixed and we had some rain showers but still plenty of sunshine and it was certainly warmer than back home.

I arrived on the Wednesday before the start of the main programme, joined by a few others over the next days with almost everyone else arriving by Saturday ready for the seven days of the main programme.
