Yr Eifl and the Tre’r Ceiri Hillfort Northern Llyn Peninsula / Yr Eifl a Bryngaer Tre'r Ceiri, Gogledd Llyn

Event Details

General information

A six mile circular walk reaching to the summit of Tre'r Ceiri and Yr Eifl (sometime referred to in English as The Rivals). The unfrequented summits of Yr Eifl offer magnificent views over the Llyn Peninsula, Caernarfon Bay and Anglesey and on a clear day the Wicklow Hills of Ireland. Tre'r Ceiri is the site of the largest (and arguably best) Bronze Age fortress in the British Isles and was occupied until AD 78. Most of the Cytiau (huts) remain making it a fascinating site. We will also walk past the imposing Yr Eifl granite quarry above the village of Trefor.

Taith gylchol rhyw 6 milltir i gopa Tre'r Ceiri a'r Eifl. Mae'r copaon unig hyn yn cynnig golygfeydd ysblennydd dros Benrhyn Llyn, Bae Caernarfon, Ynys Mon ac ar ddiwrnod clir Bryniau Wicklow yn Iwerddon. Tre'r Ceiri yw safle y gaer Oes Efydd fwyaf ar Ynysoedd Prydain ac roedd pobl yn byw yno hyd AD78. Mae nifer fawr o'r Cytiau'n aros. Byddwn hefyd yn cerdded heibio chwarel ithfaen fawr Yr Eifl uwchlaw pentref Trefor.

Terrain / Difficulty / Tir/Her

Quiet track from the car park, but will get muddy (depending on the weather) and failry wet a some steep bits towards the off road paths. There are two steep climbs and one of those to the summit of Tre'r Ceiri.

Llwybr braf i gychwyn o'r maes parcio ond daw yn fwdlyd a gwlyb (dibynnu ar y tywydd) mewn mannau. Bydd dau esgyniad serth ac un o'r rheini i gopa Tre'r Ceiri.
