This is a stunningly beautiful walk offering an astonishing variety of terrain within a 9 mile circuit via Titty Hill and Tentworth to Iping and Stedham.
We will explore the fascinating and complex hills and pretty villages of the Rother Valley, passing through the open, sandy common land of Woolbeding and Pound Commons; the grounds of a Buddhist monastery including a glorious Hammer pond; an area of marsh grasses; fine village houses and remote hamlets; varied woodland and some glorious views.
The whole walk offers a very satisfying variety and a sensation of unchanging, unspoiled countryside. I have done versions of this walk on many occasions over the last few years and found it invariably enchanting, with the bonus of spectacular views at several points in the walk. Whilst the terrain is hilly there are no taxing ascents; for the most part we gain height gradually.
Please bring a packed lunch and drinks for the walk. Wear clothes and boots suitable for the terrain and weather. Dogs are welcome if kept on leads whenever crossing roads, in areas with livestock or requested by the walk leader.
At the end of the walk fresh free hot teas and coffees will be served. Any donations of cakes & fancies to share (homemade or bought) will be very welcome.
