For our first walk of 2019 we are going to take a leap back in time to 1685 - to the site of the Battle of Segemoor exploring the area in which the Duke of Monmouth fought the last battle on English soil in his attempt in 1685 to claim the throne of James II.
A level walk of about 5.5. miles from the village of Westonzoyland across the Somerset Levels crossing a number of rhynes to the nearby village of Chedzoy and then back over the Levels and through the Sedgemoor Battle Site to Westonzoyland. Lots of wildlife during the pre-walk - birds, swans and a leaping deer ! - so some of you may want to bring binoculars.
As this is a shorter walk there is the opportunity for a post Christmas late lunch at a local Pub or Cafe for those who are interested.
