Our Groups are up and running with their activities. While there is generally no fixed maximum number of participants on an event, an event may have a limit in place based on it's risk assessment. All events still require every participant to pre-book via the website.
***PLEASE IGNORE THE ENTRY FOR THIS WALK IN THE SEPTEMBER EDITION OF OUTDOORS; THE CORRECT DETAILS FOR THIS EVENT ARE AS FOLLOWS ***
This 10-12 mile circular walk (with options, dependent on weather) includes some steep climbs onto the North Downs, with corresponding views from the top. We will walk from Thurnham past its ruined motte and bailey castle, up the North Downs Way onto the ridge, and aim to visit the Hucking Estate, before rejoining the NDW to drop down into Hollingbourne. We return to Thurnham along the Pilgrim's Way.
BOOKING: Advance booking is required. National Covid regulations limit the group size to five people plus the leader and for contact tracing purposes all attendees must be either full GOC members or have a free trial online membership. The event is of course free of charge. You can book on behalf of others as well as yourself. If you have difficulty booking then please contact the West Kent Group Coordinator at [email protected] to do it for you. You will only be permitted to attend a GOC event if you have registered in advance via the website. Thank you !
During the walk attendees should follow social distancing rules at all times and respect that others may have different sensitivities to personal safety.
Terrain / Difficulty
As in the nature of downland walking, this walk contains some moderately steep climbs up the North Downs and steep inclines back down.
