A circular winter walk around Horsmonden, a small village in the Weald of Kent.
Horsmonden means 'Horsemen's woodland pasture'. Like other Wealden settlements, its prosperity grew from cloth, hops and the iron industry. In the mid 1500's, it was the most important gun founding centre in Britain. The mass artillery industry and furnace were central to the village's livelihood. The furnace made use of the large pond close to the village. These days, Horsmonden's Summer Fair, Gypsy Horse Fair and Cricket and Beer Festival attract visitors to the village.
BOOKING: Advance booking is still required for possible Covid-19 contact tracing purposes. You can book on behalf of others as well as yourself. If you have difficulty booking, please contact the West Kent Group Coordinator at [email protected] who can assist you. You will only be permitted to attend a GOC event if you have registered in advance via the website. Thanks in advance.
