Our Groups are up and running with their activities. While there is generally no fixed maximum number of participants on an event, an event may have a limit in place based on it's risk assessment. All events still require every participant to pre-book via the website.
We begin with a short walk in Carlton then cross fields. There is a short road walk before joining the canal and following its route for about a third of the total walk. This is along a section of the Ashby Canal.
Shackerstone Railway Station is at the end of the canal section. This is at the northern terminus of the Battlefield Line. It is a heritage railway. The line runs to Market Bosworth and Shenton. The latter is several minutes from the Bosworth Battlefield Visitor Centre.
There is a gentle incline on a farm road when we leave the canal, followed by farmland bridleway/paths for the rest of the route.
I estimate this will take about 2.5 - 3 hours. Places you can visit afterwards are Market Bosworth a small market town and the Bosworth Battlefield site. There are pubs and garden centres/ farm shops with refreshments in the surrounding area.
Terrain / Difficulty
This is an easy walk. There is one gentle hill which follows a farm road with good surface. About a third of the route is canal tow path which is easy walking.
