Up, over and around The Wrekin

Event Details

Restarting Events

Our Groups are up and running with their activities.   While there is generally no fixed maximum number of participants on an event, an event may have a limit in place based on it's risk assessment.   All events still require every participant to pre-book via the website.

General information

This event is a reprise of a walk from 2018’s AOG in Telford with kind permission from Rory, who originally devised this route.  We will approach The Wrekin from the northeast before making the usual strenuous ascent of this famous hill.  After a pause at the top to catch our breath and admire the view of the meandering Severn, we will descend halfway down the far side before turning to the east and then northeast.  We will continue over rolling countryside, through Limekiln Woods via Steeraway and back to our starting point.  There is a sting in the tail with a final, short, steep ascent before we reach the car park.

Terrain / Difficulty

Moderate but with one long strenuous ascent and one short strenuous ascent.

Approximate Distance

8 miles
