Tuesday Trekking – West Bretton Circular
An 11 mile circular walk from West Bretton which takes in part of The Wakefield Way, The Dearne Way and The Kirklees Way…
We start at West Bretton and go through the Wilderness Plantation to join part of the Wakefield Way which will take us to Furnace Hill where we can enjoy a morning coffee stop in Bank Wood.
Then onwards to join onto the Kirklees Way taking us over the river Dearne, through Bilham Shrogg to enjoy beautiful scenery as we stop for lunch at Holland Bank Woodland.
Onwards our journey takes us into Bretton Country Park, which is part of Yorkshire Sculpture Park, as we walk around the lower lake to see some of the sculptures scattered around the grounds, and we can have a rest by the lake and enjoy a final coffee break (bring your own) before joining onto the Dearne Way to bring us back to West Bretton.
Equipment: walking boots, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothing. Trekking pole(s) recommended if normally used.
