General information

This is the women only weekend away based around Great Malvern in Worcestershire.

It has good road links and a train station.

There will be a Friday afternoon Heritage trail/short walk to meet up and acquaint ourselves with Great Malvern and it's impressive buildings including Malvern Priory.Details of the Friday walk are here.

We will also meet up for drinks on Friday evening --see below and the webpage for Fridays walk.

There will be a walk on The Malvern Hills on Saturday, and a group meal has been arranged for Saturday night--full details are here.

The Sunday walk, again on The Malvern Hills will consist of two loops where we return to the start mid-way so if anyone has to leave early to return home they can just do the first loop--details are here.

Great Malvern originated as a spa village.

It has impressive old buildings including the beautiful Malvern Priory.

There are lots of things to do in and around the area especially for anyone not wanting to walk.

You can arrange a tour of The Priory, there is also a museum nearby.

Worcester is less than 10 miles away, why not take the train.

Within a 20 mile radius there are lots of National trust houses and gardens to explore, a few examples are

Hanbury Hall

Greyfriars House

Croome

Witley Court

Also a Heritage centre and Tudor house museum at Upton

A lot of famous people are linked to Malvern for example Edward Elgar and his last resting place is in nearby Little Malvern at St Wulstan’s Catholic Church, and nearby is The Firs his birthplace.

Also George Bernard Shaw, Charles Darwin, Jenny Lind, C. S. Lewis, Peter Mark Roget, compiler of the famous Thesaurus of English words and Sir Charles Hastings founder of the Britsih Medical Association.

Accommodation

Everyone to find their own accommodation--see below in the restricted information.

***I would strongly recommend that once you have booked your place on the weekend that you find accommodation immediately as this is a very popular area and rooms fill up really quickly.

There are other smaller villages in and around Great Malvern too.
