A moderate 9.5 mile circular walk.

This area was an island until Roman times when the sea receded but is still surrounded by rivers, drainage channels and reclaimed marshland. The walk starts at Wittersham Church on the high ground linking it to the other isolated village of Stone in Oxney. After leaving the church at Stone in Oxney we descend the original cliffs with far reaching views to the sea across the Rother Valley. After a short stretch beside the tree lined Royal Military Canal the return includes a remote mile along or below the raised flood bank of the Rother before ascending again to Wittersham Church.

There is no railway station nearby but Gary and Robert will be happy to give lifts to any members from and back to Ashford International station.
