  • TerrainMostly good paths, some ascents (around 200m vertical). Some of the ascents are quite sharp

A walk offering a variety of contrasting landscapes including common land and heath, a magnificent millpond and high wooded hangers. The route includes Coates Common, the pretty village of Sutton, the splendidly ornate Burton Park with adjoining 11th century church and Burton Mill Pond.

There are excellent views from Barlavington Down and the unusual landscape of, and views of the Downs from, Sutton Common are unexpected delights

Please bring drinks and a packed lunch for yourself. Wear clothes appropriate for the weather and terrain. Dogs are welcome if kept on leads whenever near livestock, on roads or requested by the walk leader.
