Sun 2. Stanton, Stanway & Snowshill, Gloucestershire.
Starting from the quaint Cotswold village of Stanton, we follow the Cotswold Way across pasture land to Stanway, another quiet and picturesque Cotswold hamlet, with its thatched cricket pavilion and grand manor house.
After a short break for coffee we commence a long steady climb through woodland to reach the top of the Cotswold escarpment, for more fine views, including the distant lavender fields. A short easy walk along the escarpment brings us to the idyllic village of Snowshill, where we stop for a picnic lunch on the village green, next to the pretty little church which may be recognisable to fans of Bridget Jones.
There are good paths for most of the 8.5 miles, but some open fields and rough paths in places, meaning walking boots are a must.
Weather permitting we should get some great views of the Vale of Evesham, Broadway Tower and the distant hills.
