This walk is full of history from Roman times through to present with many a Royal connection. Berkhamsted is an historical town which oozes with character and property prices to match.

The walk will start from the Castle entrance and pass over Canal along an historical lane before ascent to leave the town into the beautiful countryside with glorious vistas, plenty woodland with canopy to keep us cool.

There are few walkers on this route which makes it absolutely splendid due to good footpaths/bridleways and the the odd country lane.

Lunch stop - those preferring shade - bring something to sit upon. Alternatively - the sun lovers have a bench.

Photo opportunities galore - ruins, historical places and a California moment!

At end of walk - opportunity to visit a historical pub on the canal - 2 minutes from train station.
