We are restarting some events with the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Currenly walks in England can take place. Walks in Scotland may take place with a maximum of 15 participants, but all participants (and walks) must stay within their own local authority area. Walks in Wales will restart from the 26th of April, with a maximum of 30 participants.
An eight mile walk near Shermanbury. This will be on the River Adur flood plain and take in the point at which the river ceases to be tidal. We will see the thirteenth century moat and gatehouse around the sixteenth century Ewhurst Manor, and the dilapidated but still occupied eighteenth century mansion of Shermanbury Place. We will also take in a stretch of the Downs Link.
If you want to do a shorter walk it is possible to join us for the first part and then make your own way back along a simple shortcut half way round. A marked-up map can be supplied to get you home. Please let the walk leader know at the start of the walk.
Bring drinks and a packed lunch for yourself. Wear clothes appropriate for the weather and terrain. Dogs are welcome if kept on leads whenever near livestock, on roads or requested by the walk leader.
BOOKING: Advance booking is required and the total number of places is limited. See booking section below. The event is of course free of charge. To support Covid contact tracing all attendees must be either full GOC members or have a free trial online membership. If you have difficulty booking then please contact the Sussex Group Coordinators at [email protected], or you can contact the Event Organiser using the message box below. Thank you.
