A 6.2 mile winter walk, with a total ascent of 353 feet, exploring some of the mining heritage of Poynton which once had the largest coalfield in Cheshire with 74 pits.

Our route will include Macclesfield Canal, Princes Incline, Lady’s Wood, Poynton Park, and Nelson Pit Visitor Centre, built on the site of a former colliery.

Equipment: walking boots, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothing, trekking pole(s) recommended if normally used.

Dogs: please keep dogs on a short lead in the vicinity of livestock; the owner is responsible for performing any lifting that may be required over stiles.
