Porthgain to Abereiddy, and Trefin – part of Christmas “weekend away” in Fishguard
This 7 mile moderate figure of eight walk and is part of the Twixmas event at Fishguard but all are welcome to join in this walk.
Come and celebrate Christmas Day, a bit differently, with great company on the Pembrokeshire coastal path.
This is a walk of impressive coastal scenery with rugged clifftop paths with several ups and downs, steep at times, and field paths/tracks along the inland section.
At Porthgain and its harbour area there are impressive ruins which seem to march up the cliff face from the harbour.
There are old brick works and a granite quarry.
We will start off towards Abereiddy, famous for its blue pool, which was a former slate quarry flooded when the wall dividing it from the sea, was breached. It is now well known for its Coasteering, though I don't think there'll be any jumping off rocks into the sea on this event at this time of year--sorry!!
In between is Traeth Llyfn, a secluded Bay.
We make our way back towards Porthgain, continuing to Trefin, and eventually back to Porthgain.
There is provision to shorten this walk if the weather is very bad.
Some areas will be muddy and there are some stiles on this walk.
Bring a packed lunch.
