This is a six-mile (10km) circulation around some of the old carriageways of the Cragside estate.  The route is classified as Moderate, but the path-finding will be easy and the surfaces good throughout.  The features will include extensive views south across the upper Coquet valley towards the Simonside hills, and north towards the high Cheviots.  We pass the entrance to Cragside House which is a significant National Trust property with an interesting history.  There will be teashops etc in Rothbury at the end of the walk.

The walk is mostly on good paths, with an initial climb out of the valley. There's a stretch of about 500m along a road where we will have to take care and walk in single file. This is lambing season and dogs will need to be kept on a leads on some parts of the route.

You will need to bring a packed lunch, walking boots and wet weather clothing.
