  • TerrainMostly level route on hard surfaces, but out into the fields it will be wet and a bit muddy in odd places.

A 7 mile, circular, moderate walk from the Newport Wetlands visitor centre, via the East Usk Lighthouse and the Wales Coast Path, to the medieval churches of St Mary’s at Goldcliff and St Mary’s at Nash.

The first half of the walk follows a level route around the wetlands reserve and beside the sea wall to Goldcliff, on hard paths.  The route than leaves this area and moves out across numerous fields and meadows from Goldcifff to Nash, and then back into the reserve.  This remains a level route, but the fields will be wet following all the recent rain.

Binoculars will be handy for seeing the wading birds.  Dogs must be on leads at all times.  Only working registered assistance dogs are welcome in the Visitor Centre and outdoor cafe seating areas accessible through the building.  Limited dog-friendly outdoor seating is provided to the front of the visitor centre.

LATEST:  We [Alan and Ben] walked the route on Saturday.  After all the recent rain, the fields are squelchy and waterlogged in places.  The route is still passable with care, but you will get wet boots, and you may want to bring spare footwear and shorts to drive home.  Forecast: Overnight rain to clear by 6 am on Sunday to leave a very mild improving day with sunny spells

Taith gerdded gylchol, gymedrol 7 milltir o ganolfan ymwelwyr Gwlyptiroedd Casnewydd, ar hyd Goleudy Dwyrain Wysg a Llwybr Arfordir Cymru, i eglwysi canoloesol y Santes Fair yn Allteuryn a’r Santes Fair yn Nash. Mae hanner cyntaf y daith gerdded yn dilyn llwybr gwastad o amgylch y warchodfa gwlyptiroedd ac wrth ymyl y morglawdd i Allteuryn, ar lwybrau caled. Mae'r llwybr yn gadael yr ardal hon ac yn symud allan ar draws nifer o gaeau a dolydd o Goldciff i Drefonnen, ac yna yn ôl i'r warchodfa. Mae hwn yn parhau i fod yn llwybr gwastad, ond bydd y caeau yn wlyb yn dilyn yr holl law diweddar. Bydd ysbienddrych yn ddefnyddiol ar gyfer gweld yr adar hirgoes. Rhaid i gŵn fod ar dennyn bob amser. Dim ond cŵn cymorth cofrestredig sy'n gweithio sy'n cael eu croesawu yn y Ganolfan Ymwelwyr a mannau eistedd y caffi awyr agored sy'n hygyrch drwy'r adeilad. Ychydig o seddau awyr agored sy'n addas i gŵn a ddarperir o flaen y ganolfan ymwelwyr.
