We are restarting some events with the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Currenly walks in England can restart from the 29th of March. Walks in Scotland may take place with a maximum of 15 participants, but all participants (and walks) must stay within their own local authority area. Walks in Wales are not currently able to restart.
Following on from the success of our 2019 walk from Malham, this is another 9-10 mile circular walk through this breathtaking limestone country including Weets Top, Gordale Scar and Malham Cove.
We start by heading south from Malham along the Airedale Way to Airton. This is a relatively flat 3 miles before we start to head northeast for the 3.25 mile climb to Weets Top (Ascent 797ft/242m). This is more of a gentle steady climb than a lung-buster and Weets Top is the highest point on this walk.
We then head west for 2 miles following the Dales High Way, passing the entrance to Gordale Scar before reaching Malham Cove which we cross from right to left before following the path back to Malham. Total ascent 1500ft/458m.
Equipment: walking boots, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothing. Trekking pole(s) recommended if normally used.
To avoid the usual congestion in the car park we will start this walk at 10.00am.
Please arrive by 9.45am latest so we can organise ourselves and leave at 10.00am prompt.
Anyone wishing to go on a wait-list for this walk , let the organiser know. Please do not attend this walk if you are not signed up on our website.
Kindly note: dogs are not allowed on this walk.
