A 7.6/8 mile walk that has rugged terrain, some steep climbs, a limestone causeway and spectacular views.
Heading south out of Malham on the Pennine Way we start to head east and follow the footpath through a wooded ravine to Janet's Foss. We then have the option of following Gordale Beck to the start of the Scar where we can view the waterfall flowing through the gorge. Due to the massive amount of rainfall we have had, we won't climb the waterfall, but will return down the gorge and take the easier footpath and then quiet road for one mile to meet the footpath running towards Street Gate. Eventually we head west towards Malham Tarn. We then rejoin the Pennine Way and walk down a dry valley for approx. 2 miles before we cross the great limestone pavement above Malham Cove. Finally we rejoin the road as we drop back into Malham.
Equipment: walking boots, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothing. Trekking pole(s) recommended if normally used.
Please note: Dogs are not allowed on this walk.
Finally remember the clocks go back (otherwise you will be very early...)
