Stop Press: this weekend is now fully booked, but members can see other options in the "members only" section below.
We will be staying in a comfortable self catering house next to the Rose and Thistle pub an historic former coaching Inn in the small village of Alwinton. It is situated in the South Eastern foothills of the Cheviots where the River Aln and Coquet meet. We will be walking in the surrounding hills and nearby Rothbury. This weekend stay allows you to stay an extra night on the Sunday. Early booking is recommended if you want to reserve a place - there are only 9 places. Booking is easy using the booking option on this page of the website. The cost (accommodation only) is £48 for the two or three nights.
There will be a longish walk on the Saturday, and we all expect to eat together at the pub in the evening. A shorter walk will be arranged for the Sunday allowing a finish by mid-afternoon for those who have to travel. Alternatively you can relax for a further evening and night and make your way back home on the Monday.
There is cooking equipment and bedding and towels are provided.
There are seven single beds and one double. There are no pre-allocated single sex rooms, so please be aware that men and women may need to share.
People intending to take part in this event should read GOC's document Safety in the Hills.
There are places for 9 people and we have reserved three night - Friday, Saturday, Sunday. (You can of course stay for just two nights if you prefer - for the same price)
