Coronavirus / Covid-19
Following recent changes in government advice regarding Covid-19 to avoid all non-essential travel and maintain social distancing, all walks and other activities are cancelled until the end of April.
We will continue to review the situation with regard to events beyond April. Further information can be found here, and will be udpated in due course.
This is a 7 mile circular walk, crossing the fields and lanes around Tondu, Coytrahen and Brynmenyn , along the Llynfi and Garw valleys. We will walk through Parc Slip Nature Reserve and Bryngarw Country Park, as well as passing the site of Tondu Ironworks (the best preserved Victorian ironworks in Wales). The walk gives a glimpse of how the South Wales Valleys changed over time, throughout the period of heavy industry and since its demise.
The walk is muddy in parts after rain, with around ten stiles (some of which are in poor condition).
Waterproofs, warm clothing, and suitable footwear are essential. Please bring a packed lunch and fluids.
