General information

This 5.5 mile walks starts in the centre of Pontardawe.

We make our way up through the grounds of a lovely church--complete with camping pod, see photo!!

Then onto some lovely easy walking old tramways towards Trebanos, before climbing up through woodland and past a lovely waterfall, onto the top of Craig Trebanos.

We then walk along a lovely bridleway before reaching the entrance of the Glan-rhyd estate.

This was a huge estate but as with so many others, the big house is no longer there.

The fine house was built by local industrialist Arthur Gilbertson in 1878. It was used as a hospital during the First World War and was demolished in 1968.

We will explore the grounds, with outdoor swimming pool, before descending to the beautiful but hidden Cwm-du glen and back to Pontardawe.
