National Lockdowns
Due to national lockdowns in all UK nations, all GOC events are currently cancelled.
We look forward to being able to restart activities once local and national restrictions permit.
General information
This is an 10 mile figure-of-eight walk centred at Friday Street. We will be starting, lunching and finishing here. The morning and afternoon legs of the walk are both around 4.25 miles each. You will thus have the options of doing the full walk or to join us for either the morning or afternoon sections only if you so wish.
The morning stretch will take us to Leith Hill via Broadmoor and Wotton Common, returning to Friday Street along the Greensand Way and Abinger Bottom. This is the hilly part of the walk although the paths are good and the inclines are mostly moderate. We will lunch at the Hammer Pond at Friday Street which is very close to the car park. The afternoon section takes us down to Wotton and Westcott, returning along the Greensand Way past The Rookery towards Broadmoor. This track follows the course of the Tilling Bourne and we will pass the infamous waterfall along the way. Again the paths are good and the inclines are moderate.
To limit risk of Covid19 we will walk in three groups setting off at ten minute intervals. I will advise who is in which group nearer the time.
