Four Churches, Two Lions and One Marsh
This circular 10 mile walk starts in the picturesque village of Appledore. The first leg is along the Saxon Shore Way through fields and a large vineyard. We then descend to Romney Marsh proper along tarmacked country lanes where there is virtually no traffic and will have the chance to visit four very different churches at Kenardington, Snargate, Fairfield and Appledore itself; Fairfield church is particularly iconic, being surrounded by fields, waterways and sheep. We will stop to eat our lunch in Snargate churchyard which is opposite another iconic landmark, The Red Lion pub which remains in a 1940s time warp. At the end of the walk, anyone who wishes can have a drink at the Black Lion pub in Appledore
