Destination Burrator
STOP PRESS Posted Saturday 3 February. This walk will now be led by Mike Flack. All other details unchanged and walk will go ahead as planned.
iStarting with a short section of open moorland (which can get very soggy at times) leading downhill to join a former railway track providing firm and level terrain all the way to Burrator. The lunch stop is high above the dam with splendid views of the reservoir and surrounding tors. Please bring a packed lunch. There are stone benches to sit on. After lunch we gently descend to the dam itself where toilet facilities are available. We join the road to cross the dam followed by an attractive stretch of the route through woodland beside the lake leading to the little village of Sheepstor with time to visit the church before we retrace our steps as far as the dam. Pre positioned cars at the dam will ferry members back to the start point. Afterwards we will go to either Yelverton or Princetown for refreshments.
Full details are available to members only
