Covid Secure Events - getting back outdoors
All of our groups are now able to offer events. Events may accept up to 30 attendees, including walk leaders, in accordance with Sport England and Ramblers' agreed procedures. Individual events may have a lower limit on participation at the discretion of the local group, of the walk leader, or as required by local regulations.
You will only be permitted to attend a GOC event if you have registered in advance via the website. Every person attending an event must register individually. A record of participants at all events will be kept, and will be shared with NHS Track and Trace if requested.
GOC discourages the sharing of lifts to reach events.
Any event may need to be cancelled at short notice in order to comply with local lockdown regulations, or where an event leader is required to self-isolate. Always check the website for any last minute changes in the morning before travelling to an event.
When attending an event, please ensure that you bring a supply of hand sanitizer and a face covering along with your usual food and walking equipment.
If you, or someone in your household, has Covid-19 symptoms you should self-isolate in line with government guidelines, and must not take part in GOC events. Symptoms include a high temperature, a new continuous cough and the loss, or a change to your sense of smell or taste.
Are you ‘clinically vulnerable’? If you (or someone you live with) are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from coronavirus, you should take extra care to minimise contact with others from outside your household.Taking part in a GOC activity may put you and those around you at higher risk. It may not be the right decision at this time. Remember – everyone over 70, and those with certain underlying health conditions are considered to be ‘clinically vulnerable’
CANCELLED to comply with latest lockdown requirements. An 8.5 mile walk with splendid views and diverse terrain commencing at Eartham Wood along Stane Street and steadily climbing towards Bignor Hill. It then continues along the Monarch's Way, through Houghton Forest and returns westwards to the wood across undulating countryside.
Please bring drinks and a packed lunch for yourself. Wear clothes appropriate for the weather and terrain. Dogs are welcome if kept on leads whenever near livestock, on roads or requested by the walk leader.
BOOKING: Advance booking is required. The event is of course free of charge. All attendees must be either full GOC members or have a free trial online membership, to support NHS Track and Trace. If you have difficulty booking then contact the Sussex Group Coordinators at [email protected], or you can contact the Event Organiser using the message box below. Thank you!
