Droitwich Spa and the Dodderhill Parish Walk
Roman period maps of Britain show the town of Droitwich as Salinae, indicative of the vast salt deposits below ground. This walk, organised by Western Midlands Group, will take us through the High Street of Droitwich, by St. Augustine’s Church then onwards through Dodderhill parish via the ancient ridgeway with views, weather permitting, of the surrounding countryside. After crossing the river Salwarpe we’ll take to slightly higher ground again, viewing Chateau Impney, before making our way back into the town via the Droitwich Barge Canal and Vines Park.
We'll pass by the sites of a Roman villa, fort and road as well as Mesolithic deposits and across Salty Brook. Please ensure you're booted and suited for both the weather and terrain.
