  • TerrainMost of this walk is on flat but undulating ground and/or downhill, with 2 steepish inclines, that will be wet and muddy. Waterproof boots essential and walking sticks if you use them. There are also 4 stiles.

This is a 7 mile moderate walk starting in Clydach, with a socially distanced, Festive celebration at the end of the walk (in the now well tested "Covid rules apply" )

We will set off from the centre of Clydach towards Trebanos, through a lovely woodland.

At Trebanos we climb steadily on good paths which may be muddy and stony*** in parts, in the direction of Mynydd Gellionen and the beautiful Chapel where we will have our lunch.

***Please note the above stony path had a few inches of running water flowing down on the recce after recent rain, so waterproof boots essential.

Walking sticks also useful. There are 4 stiles on the route.

We then cross some green fields towards Craig Cefn Parc and the last bit on a lovely green path beside the Lower Clydach river, emerging at Forge Fach where we can do a short walk by the canal and make our way along the main street in Clydach back to the Community garden for some refreshments.

One of our members, who most of your know,  Neil, set up and runs Clydach Community Garden, which is adjacent to where we will be parking. He has kindly agreed that we can use the garden for a festive celebration at the end of our walk. It has a good sized polytunnel and outdoor area with plenty of seating that will enable social distancing. Please note there are no toilets, handwashing facilities or electricity onsite.

Please feel free to wear something Festive.

Unfortunately there can be no sharing of food or drink so please bring your own or just lift the remnants of your water bottles or flasks to a toast for some fantastic walking/socialising/weekends away in 2021.

***If the weather looks wet, please bring an umbrella and also if you have any lighting, lamps, lanterns and torches (not requiring electricity)please bring that along to light up the polytunnel and garden.

For those of you who do not carry cash with you, please note we will be asking for any small voluntary donations for the Community garden and also for the Terence Higgins Trust for World Aids Day which was on 1st December.

***Please note places are limited to  20 for this event.
