Event Details

Restarting Events

We are restarting some events with the easing of lockdown restrictions.

Walks can once again take place in England, Scotland and Wales, and will be run in accordance with local regulations.   In most cases our walks will allow for a maximum of 30 participants, although a lower limit may be in place following an event's risk assessment.   All walks require every participant to pre-book via the website.

General information

A 9 mile walk through the ancient Wychwood forest and surrounding countryside.

We begin our walk in Charlbury, cross towards Cornbury Deer Park and then enter the largest area of ancient woodland in Oxfordshire.  The central part forms a National Nature Reserve containing over 360 species of flowering plants and ferns, and most of the rest is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

We return to Charlbury across open countryside, with views across the Evenlode valley.

Dogs are welcome if kept on a lead through the Cornbury Estate and where livestock is present.

Terrain / Difficulty

Walking over field paths, bridleways and quiet country lanes. Some moderate inclines but no steep hills.

Approximate Distance

9 miles
