Blockley: It’s Hills and Valleys.

Event Details

National Lockdowns

Due to national lockdowns in all UK nations, all GOC events are currently cancelled.

We look forward to being able to restart activities once local and national restrictions permit.

General information

A 7 mile walk, on paths and lanes, in and around the fascinating Cotswold village of Blockley. As the name suggests, there will be some ups and downs but only one steepish climb but well worth it for the view of Blockley nestled in its valley below.

The walk is in a figure of 8 and will take in the wooded valleys of The Warren and Norcombe Wood in the morning (3.7 miles) and include a walk along one of the Cotswolds’ most attractive, but least visited, High Streets. We will return to Blockley for a picnic lunch by the bowling green so anyone who wants to avoid the steeper climb in the afternoon can drop out then. The afternoon (2.9 miles) will take us up the eastern slope of the valley to enjoy the view from the ridge down onto Father Brown’s parish.

Terrain / Difficulty

The walk is mostly on field or woodland paths so be prepared for mud. There is some road walking but on quiet lanes. The steeper gradients are in the afternoon. There are a few, but not many, stiles.

Approximate Distance

7 miles
