An "artful" visit to Carmarthen
This is an extra event on our calendar and is something completely different.
There will be a 2 hour (maximum) walk starting at 11 30am*** in and around Carmarthen, including a heritage trail with lots of interesting history and a wander around the lovely old buildings in the town.
We will include Carmarthen park which boasts Wales's first velodrome (cycle track, newly renovated) and one of the few early velodromes to survive in working condition. Complete with its original grandstand, bandstand, lodge, entrance gates and railings, Carmarthen Park has been used for a wide range of sports, eisteddfodau, entertainments, circuses and concerts.
At the end of the walk we will arrive at Oriel Myrddin an art gallery in the town where we can eat our packed lunches and where tea/coffee and the all important cake will be available.
There will then be a short talk by Angela Maddock, a friend of Russ Harris telling us about her recent walking adventure which took her from Swansea to Middlesborough!!
She also has an exhibition at the gallery entitled
"Sometimes all you can do is walk"
You can see some more details and images on this link.
