General information

This walk will explore some of the history of Chipping Norton, when we will discover the link between a strike and a silver tea pot, visit the site of a riot, see a rival to the Rollright Stones and learn a little about the town’s progress up the hill.

To gain an appetite for lunch will will take a gentle stroll to the hamlet of Over Norton getting a view of Chippy on its hill side, noting the unusual lowly position of the parish church.

The walk will be a mix of pavements on the town section and open fields, woodland and lanes in the countryside.  A total of no more than 5 miles, with no steep hills, just a couple of gentle inclines.  Boots are recommended as a couple of sections can be muddy after rain.

Dress for the weather.

Please note the earlier than usual start time of 10.30.
