Twenty years ago, the first walk of the newly formed South Wales GOC Group tentatively stepped out to climb the Sugar Loaf hill, which dominates the Abergavenny skyline, and to mark the occasion, Peter, the original walk leader, will lead a six mile long ramble to the summit, which is just under 2,000 feet high. Ascending around 1,300 feet, the walk scenery includes open moorland with extensive views and sheltered wooded valleys, and the terrain is tracks and good paths that may be muddy in places. Waterproofs, warm clothing, and suitable footwear essential.
Please bring a packed lunch and a suitable supply of fluids - remember it will be cold this time of year.
Celebratory refreshments will be supplied by the walk leader, Peter.
Terrain / Difficulty
Moderate with a steady climb to the summit
