This walk saw 23 of us work off some of the seasonal excess. the walk was in memory of Nigel Poole who sadly passed away in 2015 and this was a walk that Nigel had previously lead. The walk was latered very slightly to include the Muslim burial ground where 28 muslim soldiers were inturned after WW1 and WW2. The burial ground had only recently undergone major renovation and was opened by The Earl of Wessex. The walk was fairly flat and took us across parts of Horsell common where the Novel by H G Wells was centered, through Chobham where some very considerate attendants had just washed the floors of the public convenience in readiness for many of the group to use the facilities. Then through Fairoaks private airfield before walking through Mclaren Park where you get to see a glimpse of the modern Mclaren Headquarters
We finished the walk with tea and cakes, the fine selection of teas and coffees were made by Gordon and Neil and the delicious assortment of cakes were:
Apple and Cinnamon cake – James
Chocolate and Cherry – Sue
Cherry Cake –John
Coffee and Walnut – Robert
Coffee and Walnut, yes a second one! – Gordon
Mince pies and Fruit cake – sorry I didn’t find out who donated these but a big thanks to you!
