From the head of the Fal

All nineteen of us including a new member and three women who have become regular participants as well as two well behaved dogs, met at Grampound – a small town between Truro and St Austell at the head of the river Fal, for a walk to Tregony – a Cornish village deep in the countryside.  For once the weather was just right but there were many signs of the recent inclement weather all round us.

John led the walk and he’d hoped to have plotted part of our route following the River Fal but this proved impossible with breeched banks and waterlogged fields. As thorough as ever, John came up with alternatives and we reached half way and piled into the village pub for excellent food.

Well fortified we strolled back to base camp, again following quiet roads rather than countryside and river banks.

We all agreed this was a great day out – good company, good conversation and a bit of country fresh air.
