Saturday evening the heavens opened and I was sure next day's walk through Berkshire would be doomed!  Instead the sun rose early and it remained a stunningly lovely Autumnal day.  I couldn't make the walk, however I believe 35 turned up and from accounts from several, had a great day.

Jon Barker, Event Lead for the day, summarised the proceedings:

"The Sunningdale to Windsor walk was a great way of spending a sunny, late Autumn day.  We started by ensuring we hadn't left anyone to the temptations of the adjacent Waitrose and regrouped after being split by the level crossing gates.  A brief trip through Sunningdale, stopping at the war memorial for a short while on Remembrance Sunday, was followed by a walk around the lake at Virginia Water, the sunshine picking out the orange autumn colours in all their glory.  Lunch by the obelisk, and a brisk trip to the Savill Garden toilets was followed by a walk around Cow Pond, past Prince Andrew's pink house to the first tantalising glimpses of Windsor Castle and Slough power station. Following a stop to admire the copper stature of George III, we followed the long Long Walk to the castle.  A parting of the ways saw some weary travellers head off whilst a select few tried out the "gay friendly" Corner House pub and found it to be a very acceptable diversion."

And to complement the report we have some great pictures from Dave Havell and John Wright, and do check out John's own website for his personal blog of the day, and other interesting things he gets up to!
