How GOC is run

Constitution

The club is legally a Company Limited by Guarantee and is governed by two documents:

• The Articles of Association which define how the club is run
• A Code of Conduct which all members or guests participating in any activity within GOC are required to abide by

We also provide guidelines for members who are organising anything for GOC in our Information page.

Groups

The groups which make up GOC organise all of the events, each one has a person who co-ordinates their events and acts as a contact for the group. To find out more about any group and how to contact them, look under our Groups page.

Committee

A central committee of up to 12 Directors manage services for the groups and comprises:

Chairman: David White  

Represents the club and deals with all aspects of club policy, publicity, insurance and safety.

Communications: Nigel Still  

Ensures that communication to members through the newsletter and website are consistent.

Design and Advertising: Colin Barker  

Graphic design for ‘Outdoors’ covers and other GOC publications and deals with advertising sales.

Events: Richard Dorling  

Advice and assistance to any member organising a GOC event.

Group Liaison: Douglas Bodie  

Contact for GOC group co-ordinators and associated clubs.

Membership Secretary: Mike Hone  

Manages membership subscriptions, renewals, change of address and newsletter delivery problems.

Minutes Secretary: Roger Orpin 

Takes the minutes of committee and general meetings.

Newsletter Editor: Tim Haigh  

Edits GOC's newsletter, Outdoors, dealing with all articles and event reports.

Secretary: Peter Blackburn  

Deals with all general correspondence.

Treasurer: Nick Thompson  

Manages the club's finances including membership payments and expense claims.

Web Manager: Owen Morris  

Manages the website and IT resources of the club.

Women's Secretary: Sally Hind  

Promotes and encourages the participation of women in the activities of the club.

Assistant to the Committee

Archivist: Simon Ball 

Maintains the club's archives.

Returning Officer

Tim Hall  

Organises the ballot at a general meeting.
